Refining chains and the cheapest source

The Refining page prices refined resources — bars, leather, planks and cloth — from tier 2 to tier 8, enchantments included from tier 4.

What one refine consumes

A refine of tier T takes raw resources of tier T plus one refined resource of tier T−1 (tier 2 takes raw only). Some recipes swap one raw resource for a faction heart. The return rate gives back a share of every input except the heart, which is never refunded.

The cheapest source of each input

For every input the app compares the ways to get it and keeps the cheapest:

  • raw resource: buy it, or transmute it from a cheaper raw resource (enchant-up or tier-up), adding the transmutation silver after your discount;
  • refined resource of the tier below: buy it, or refine it yourself — and the same choice repeats down the chain;
  • heart: buy it.

The Buy tab lists the prices it uses and the source it picked for each input.

Batches, leftovers and station tax

A batch is planned like crafting materials: the first refine pays its inputs in full, the refunds feed the next ones, and purchases are rounded up to whole units. What the last refine gives back is listed as leftover to resell.

The station tax of one refine is the item value × 0.1125 × the station fee (silver per 100 nutrition, as shown at the station).

Return rate and focus

Refining uses its own Royal city return-rate table. Tick Refine in the bonus city when you refine where your resource has its bonus: the app knows Thetford for ore, Martlock for hide, Fort Sterling for wood and Lymhurst for fiber. Add the daily bonus and focus as needed; the focus of each refine follows your specializations.

Reading the result

The Result tab gathers what to buy, what to transmute, what to refine (intermediate tiers included) and the leftovers. Its totals add the market purchases, the transmutation silver and the station tax, and set them against the revenue after market tax. Profit / Focus tells you which refines are worth your daily focus, and the daily sales column warns you when a quantity is a large share of what the market absorbs.
